About WaterTableCheck

Why this exists

"Is my water table dropping" searches mostly turn up either a paid well-service pitch or a vague regional headline. WaterTableCheck instead fits a trend to the USGS monitoring well that actually covers each county and reports the number, not an impression.

What goes into the number

Every trend comes from USGS's National Water Information System field measurements (parameter 72019, depth to water), fit with an ordinary-least-squares slope over each well's full qualifying record. The exact qualifying bar and the model are documented in the methodology guide.

One well, honestly labeled

A county can span thousands of square miles; one monitoring well cannot describe every property in it. This site says so on every page, rather than implying a single number speaks for a whole aquifer.

Who runs this

WaterTableCheck is an independently run site. It is not affiliated with USGS or any home-warranty or water-testing company. Where a page includes a sponsored link, that is disclosed on the page itself and in the privacy policy.
